Fleet Manager Supervisor

Job Description & Responsibilities:

  • Driver Retention
    • Monitor and track driver retention per Fleet Manager
    • Create new programs to enhance driver retention
    • Work with Retention Specialist to reduce turnover to 85% annually
  • Keep track of and address Fleet Manager Performance Metrics which currently includes:
    • Mileage
      • Regional - 2,100
      • Midwest - 1,650
      • Dedicated - 2,200
    • Utilization - 90%
    • Retention - 85%
    • PTAs
    • Trailer moves
    • If a Fleet Manager is not completing their daily goals, they will be brought in for a performance review with the Fleet Manager Supervisor
    • When a Fleet Manager is on a 30 day performance review his work needs to measured and his progress or lack of reviewed weekly
  • Globally work with the load planners to ensure both utilization of the trucks and on time deliveries are made
  • Manage Fleet Manager PTO requests and schedule for coverage both during the working day and after hours
  • This is a management role and will require some after hours and weekend work
  • Approve advances and loans over $150. Above $300 seek VP Operations or CFO approval
  • Work with drivers when their issues go beyond the fleet manager
  • Develop Fleet Manager training program for new and experienced Fleet Managers
  • Ensure all fleets and night dispatch are properly covered
  • Keep management properly informed
  • Review any pay issues regarding things such as detention and layovers
  • Daily review of Layover & Detention report
  • Weekly review of Discretionary pay report
  • Resolve any issues covering loads or getting drivers to the correct areas for home time
  • Ensure safety requirements are met by drivers which are as follows
    • Unassigned Driving (Safety)
    • Spped Gauge (Safety)
    • Hard Braking (Safety)
  • Review temperature report and address as required (including Orbcomm trailer alarms)
  • Take part in meetings with underperforming drivers and safety/ termination reviews
  • Complete all reports for scheduled meetings. This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Performance Metrics
    • Working Driver Stratification
    • Truck Status Report
    • Roll Forward Report
    • Incentive Plans
    • 6 Day Productivity Report
